Jedi Knight Galaxies (JKG) is a multiplayer shooter with role playing elements, played out in the Star Wars universe. The project is a full conversion game modification for Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy.
Grenade "Roll" mode should have different movement physics from throwing, it should have them move across the ground and be able to bounce off of walls.
Perfecting the physics without having a real physics engine will probably be impossible, they should still bounce like normal grenades do if they fall off of a ledge, but they should tend to "slide" in one direction while lying on its side on one axis while rotating on the perpendicular axis.
This will work good enough for both "cylindrical" grenades and "spherical" grenades.
