Comments on functional and design spec

Both specs look good. My one concern is scope. Do something simple of image processing / ML since the point of this project is producing a package, not publishable science.

I understand your concern about the scope. While I agree that the main focus should be on creating a well-structured package, I'm really interested in my current topic. I will try to narrow down the scope while keeping the core ideas. I have planned out the development process carefully to ensure I can complete both the research and package development within the timeframe, without compromising the package quality. Would it be possible to proceed with my current topic? I'm open to further adjustments based on your advice.

You should definitely be excited about the science. And, definitely continue with your current topic. I just want to make sure that you can finish the project. My suggestion is start simple on the science so that you can create the package. If more time permits, do more on the science.
