I can't for the life of me remember where I saw it, but I did recently come across an entry in an English-English dictionary with a [cliché] label (though I suppose it might have been a one-word usage note). Should we consider this for JMdict, for idioms and proverb-like phrases and sayings that are a little trite or of relatively recent coinage/not really properly established as proverbs/idioms?
Some entries that come to mind:
やればできる
正直は最善の策
うまい話には裏がある
子供は3歳までに一生分の親孝行をする
子供は親の背中を見て育つ
馬鹿と天才は紙一重
不可能を可能にする
お客様は神様
タダより高いものはない
嫌よ嫌よも好きのうち
子は親の鏡 / 子供は親の鏡
美人は三日で飽きる
人生は一度きり (though not currently an entry)
やらずに後悔するよりやって後悔したほうがいい (proposed by myself in 2018 but rejected; I'd like to revive it)
親の恩は子で送る (though in imidas)
いつまでもあると思うな親と金 (though in daijs)
結果がすべて (though in daijr)
No J-J dictionary has this type of tag to my knowledge but I don't think it should be all that hard to establish if an entry deserves it not. Some are so obviously trite there can be little argument (不可能を可能にする, for example). For others, I think they meet the criteria if they have been bandied around enough to include but are not included in other large dictionaries and/or were relatively recently coined (美人は三日で飽きる doesn't turn up in the NDL archives until 1978, for example).
