In the グループチャット entry (https://www.edrdg.org/jmwsgi/entr.py?svc=jmdict&sid=&q=2837616) Robin commented: "Wiktionary tags "group chat" as "Internet", which seems like a better fit to me. It might be worth adding an Internet field tag to jmdict."

Having such a tag would probably be helpful. At present we have a [telec] tag which is used on 29 entries, mainly quite technical networking terms, and the [comp] tag which is on 11,648 terms. Many of the terms with the [comp] tag were added in mid-2008 when a computing-related glossary was added to JMdict. Many of these entries are clearly Internet-related, e,g, DNS, HTTP, FTP; and some others probably belong in both.

Apart from its length, I'm a little uncomfortable having [internet] as a tag. As an old networking person, I was developing and researching aspects of the Internet before the WWW arrived. To me, it's useful the separate the underlying network from the applications on top of it such as the WWW, and video streaming, but I realise it's a lost cause these days.

Would something like [netw] work as a field tag covering both the underlying Internet and the applications services running over it?
