I'm going to try using "{}".format(binding) instead of "[binding]" to see if this fixes it

It did not. Interpolation may still be viable

I suspect this is linked to Issue #15 and Issue #16

Um. I believe there's a good chance that this is all because I am using the saves made by the old system. I don't have time to check it now, but I shall tomorrow. I expect I shall feel monumentally stupid, and then update these all accordingly :(

Having deleted my original saves from the original version of this mod (which stored data in the filename instead of as JSON), new saves do show their names both on the slot and in the tooltip. Closing this.
