8 years ago Adventure sharing is already possible at this point by using Google Drive (not RPG Ambience) to share:
- the adventure file (with a ".ambience" extension)
- all of the media files in the adventure (possibly by sharing the folders containing them)
While I would love to see an online platform for sharing adventures with the wider internet, as that would make roleplaying ambience accessible for a much larger audience, there are significant legal issues with something like that. Even though the application itself would not store any of the content (it would all be on Google Drive), we've seen other projects and applications been shut down for similar architectures.
While I'm confident that such an architecture is legal in every way (in the same way that a search engine is legal) and that RPG Ambience is a small enough project to avoid the full wrath of copyright lawyers, it's not a challenge that I want to undertake. It would require a different developer and a separate project, but it's certainly possible on a technical level.
A lot of people spent a lot of time "customizing" their adventures and preparing 'general' sets. It would be just great, if these could be shared in a simple way to a wider audience, either as "public" or as "on invitation" basis. As the files are hosted on (semi)public file-sharing system, that could (?) be rather straight forward, couldn't it?
