Feature request: Add support for PDF/UA #171

I think it would be awesome if this project could open and edit accessible PDF/UA as well. Especially the tag tree, tables, reading order and alternative texts for pictures. Even better would be the possibility to tag an untagged PDF in the program.

Here is a link as to why PDF/UA is important: https://pdfua.foundation/en/why-pdf-ua/

Unfortunately I can hardly find any open-source tools for creating, editing and checking the validity of an accessible PDF. Only Adobe Products and niche software solutions that either cost much and/or are only available on Windows.

I realize this is probably a tall order and wanted to ask if that feature is on the road map?

Thanks in advance for the answer!

Hello @Ryolz , could you please provide sample documents?

Ryolz commented 6 months ago

Hey @JakubMelka, sure, here are a few links to tagged PDFs:

https://pdfa.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/TaggedPDFBestPracticeGuideSyntax.pdf (english) https://www.bpb.de/system/files/dokument_pdf/BPB_IzpB_357_Sport_und_Politik_barr.pdf (german)

I hope those help, if you need other documents, I'll organize some.
