A new great post from James Kindon ! You are a master of knowloedge ! Thanks for sharing this to the world ! I would like to use automation tool like packer, Azure Dev Ops or others but I don't knwo where to begin :) Since a lot of time I use a custom Powershell Framework to deploy al Citrix components, it works great but I think it's time to evolve to others solutions more flexible to address public Cloud. Cheers

It's a starting point at least - already so many things that could be done better (there is a packer switch to not keep the image for example which would reduce complexity and simply output a snap)

Hi James

great post as always.

do you know if there is away to use Packer and create a specialized image and for that to be uploaded to the compute gallery?

Thanks Carl

Hi Carl,

Not that I am aware of no, currently I don't believe there is any support to do this with Packer directly. A friend of mine has a feature request here https://github.com/hashicorp/packer-plugin-azure/issues/262

For now, you likely just need a task after your build to go and upload the snap into the Image Gallery as part of a pipeline
