If we have a simple model with three inputs and a single output, it would be nice to be able to identify if any pairs of inputs interact with each other in a nonlinear fashion, such that changing parameter A produces one set of effects for a certain value of parameter B, and a different set of effects for another value of parameter B, contrasting with its constant effect over all values of parameter C.
