Didn't happen on bible. Maybe to do with character encoding, or htmlentities?

uk.webconverger uses utf8 by default. /etc/apache2/conf.d/charset

Ah: "the default value for this argument is ISO-8859-1 in versions of PHP prior to 5.4.0, and UTF-8 from PHP 5.4.0 onwards."

Bible runs php 5.4, uk.webconverger 5.3.
