Maven build is broken #104

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. check out the project
2. run "mvn clean install"
3. look in the jar - all of the assets are missing

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
All of the files in /assets should be in the jar.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Building from source on github as of 11/20/2011 on Mac OSX 10.6.8

Please provide any additional information below.
Attached is a pom that will build the jar correctly (with version numbers and 
encoding issues fixed as well).
