I don't know anything about AMP, however, I took a peek at the link you provided, and it looks like all that is needed is to delete all references to the !important qualifier, as you said. I will post an edited file on this thread to that effect.

I tried it myself before but the functionality seams to be broken. For instance, I used .w3-mobile , without !important , it was not working. Maybe it has to do something with amp boilerplate and amp js.
This is really good framework, really love it. Can an AMP Compatible version be released? without !important in css https://www.ampproject.org/docs/design/responsive/style_pages
