Fixed some small issues in README.md #26

Most of it is markdown lint errors. Some of it makes some URLs or shells nicer. I also changed the checkmarks to be actually checked checkmarks.

Sorry, I just realized the :heavy_check_mark: is a GitHub specific markdown and works, so feel free to ignore this. I might revert that part. The other parts should be at least of minor use.
