Whitelist Server Community Feature Proposal [WIP] #1135

Closed Psyanine closed 4 years ago

Psyanine commented 4 years ago

This thread is to open the discussion of whitelist server community features. This is not for general features for the public server that require fresh code etc, but ways of which the existing features (perhaps with minimal code adjustments) can be adjusted or changed in order to enhance the whitelist server experience. Examples would be discussion of features such as: -Character perma death -ICU / morgue implementation -Drugs access / whitelist -Playing corrupt cops -Criminal gang structure / features (territory, if leader is killed not just remaking a new character to replace leader etc.) -Venue ownership -Life in jail

For pure rule suggestions please contribute via https://github.com/Jarrrk/HighLife/issues/1134

I will consolidate suggestions into a document for easier accessibility to be referred to relevant staff teams.

Again to avoid feature creep do not suggest brand new complex systems aimed for public server, make your own feedback thread for this. The whitelist server is something I would love to see make a comeback but this time ensuring that everything is communicated well and where quality roleplay is the central drive.

I look forward to hearing back from the community <3

And this one would require more coding:

Economy rework for the whitelist server

Referring to #4 made over 2 years ago, the economy needs a total rework.

For the public server and the average player, I think the economy is fine as it is. Everyone can get a nice car if they grind hard enough. Hate it or love it, this is why a lot of people play here; to reach that highlife. They want to drive around in that slick new Lambo or Ferrari.

For a whitelist server this is unrealistic and needs to be worked on. It’s not something that can be done in a day’s work. I’m talking a total rework of the amount you get for work you do. This include all ways you can think of that reward you with money.

Getting 10k from a 20 min G6 run or 40k for 35-40 min doing RON is just absurd and should not be a thing. I think there should be some other types of legal jobs aswell, but that’s for another time.

The average US/UK citizen make 30-40k a year. Obviously, this is a game and we can’t make it that identical to real life, but I hope you see my point. What I would like to see on the whitelisted server is people saving up for a normal car like a Blista, Sultan, Futo etc. and drive around in these. It should not be something that can be done in a few hours or a day’s work. This could take a week or more. It should be the equivelant of a person saving up for a supercar on the public server. Everyone driving around in BMW’s and supercars is not realistic. Same with having a 10-20 car garage filled with luxury vehicles.

At this point in time the vanilla vehicles in GTA 5 are used by locals. Most people don’t use them at all because they are cheap and slow vehicles that they wont need because they can get something like a nice Audi RS6 for some hours work. Yes, I know it can take longer for a new player, but my point still stands.

Also paying $70 for bandages and $40 for painkillers is just stupid expensive IRL, even though we are talking about american healthcare prices here, so could be wrong.

This is balancing that is gonna take a while. What I recommend is to reduce the car prices by a little. Most of the cars in GTA are mockups of cars IRL, so they could use the same price as these have. Same goes with items you buy from stores. It shouldn’t be pocket money that you throw away because you won’t notice it in your bank account. Rigth now I don’t mind spamming my inventory full of painkillers.

But all of these should be balanced after one thing, and that is the salary. 40k RON runs need to go. I don’t wanna see thousands made after a run, put it down to the hundreds.

These ideas came after playing on a whitelisted server last year where money was hard to earn. I was working and doing honest work for around a week or two and managed to save up for a car in the end. Think it was something like the Futo, but damn, I was the proudest f***ing owner of car in the whole city. I worked for this! I will drive around in it with pride.

All of these ideas must be taken with a grain of salt, but I hope you see where I’m coming from. For the whitelisted server there should be put more emphasis on roleplay and making it more like real life to get immersed. I lose that immersion when I see 10 guys parked up with BMW’s at Legion. And they all started playing a week ago.

@ImNorin Whitelist server isn't for grinding jobs/drugs 24/7 which is how most players get the very high end cars. Personally I would rather have no custom cars at all as they are very easy to spot during chases. Bare in mind at the moment there is currently a mass handling rework that will lower the high end speeds on the server bringing the driving to less disparity.

There were a few ideas of tackling the economy issue, a cool idea from bloomb was that perhaps you could make money easy to gain so that less grinding is needed but properties / vehicles for that character are lost on death. A way to encourage ending the storyline of a character without holding onto it for the sake of property.

Stat squishing the payouts / economy makes everything a little harder btw, then you are gonna end up dealing with a bunch of decimals. Whilst the payout on paper is unrealistic it serves it's purpose and I don't find it immersion breaking myself. Could be looked into though. Also 8 people dossing at legion in bmws etc (legion dwellers) wouldn't be an issue on whitelist as they'd be better suited for the social environment of the public server.

Thing is there's gotta be that balance between players who like to focus solely on one whitelist character at a time and those that like to create new characters to experiment with. Barrier of entry to a very low end vehicle (rented?) shouldn't be too high but it should start to scale after that point imo. Also another point if at all you do have specific numbers etc in mind then feel free to pass them onto myself or any other member of the balancing team and it will be looked at.

Thanks for your feedback guys <3

Corrupt cops 100% any ideas to how this could be implemented?

Basically each cop should have character that is used only for LSPD. So unless you are corrupt, no illegal stuff being done with that character while off-duty. You can't clock off, hop in your car and drive 120mph through legion, stop at the first store and rob it. Unless you are corrupt. If you'd be caught doing crimes or illegal stuff with your cop character, you would risk your LSPD job. Corruption should be about doing stuff while on-duty and while off-duty as well. Taking a bribe while not discussing it with voice so couldn't be captured on the LSPD bodycam or dashcam, and taking that money while it's being palmed to you with the person's papers for example. Or maybe using some information you've gathered while on-duty to your personal interest while off-duty. Maybe one suspect threatened you and your family when you've arrested him; when he gets out, you go snatch him and cut his tongue. Or maybe an accident happens to your LSPD bodycam and dashcam and they stop recording suddenly, and you are 'free' to do anything. This is all based on RP and as long as you would RP it correctly, you can be as corrupt as you want. Maybe somebody hears about it OOCly, hell, everybody knows OOCly that you are a corrupt cop. But they don't know a thing ICly, so nothing is happening to you, you keep your job. This is what roleplaying as a corrupt cop should be.

Purchasable shops etc also being looked at but any ideas for function?

D8 should be able to sell a gas station for example as a property. People that fill their car at that gas station pay money, that money goes directly to you as the owner, inside the property's storage. Now it won't be fair to only have incomes and no expenses, so RON drivers could drive at the gas stations as part of their route and fill up the gas station's petrol stash. A gas station would be able to run out of petrol and you wouldn't be able to fill up at that said gas station, so the owners must be aware of their petrol stock. Let's say you have a capacity of 10.000L inside the gas station, which means 100 vehicles doing a full refill 0 -> 100. When a RON driver refills at your owned gas station, he would put 200L in the stock for example. This would go as well with the 24/7 stores. RS Trucking could deliver goods and supply the stocks at the 24/7 stores. It would be unfair that once somebody buys a property, he only has income and 0 expenses. That's why it should be made this way. A gas station at legion would cost WAY more than a gas station on the freeway. A 24/7 store at strawberry would cost WAY more than a 24/7 store on the freeway. Hope you get my whole idea.

Definitely feel gang size needs a limit but how would this be imposed with people online at a time / whole gang roster?

I wouldn't certainly limit the gang size, or maybe set a limit of 15 people, because i'm 99% sure not all of them would be online at the same time anyway. My idea with the gang roster was specifically made for the leader rotation thing in gangs and mafias, not to limit their number.

I like the idea of a launder job but requires a whitelist which we wanna steer clear of as much as possible, especially for a function that is used so much.

It's not like we won't be able to clean the money the other way, the casino way. It's just that when you give this whitelist job to somebody, you make sure before that he is an active persons who logs in almost daily. You give it to a number of 2-5 people and that's it. Maybe one of them won't be online when somebody wants to clean some cash, but he can use the casino OR stash the money inside the house until one of them comes in the city. EDIT: Owning a business would give you the possibilty to clean money inside of it. Just like a house storage, place the dirty money inside and it will clean by itself over time.

Only issue with heli's is use and access, don't wanna encourage gangs to stalk people with 'em and wouldn't want people constantly using them to transport illicit goods (heli conflict would get messy)

While I understand that, I also feel like if you have enough money to afford one in the first place, then you shouldn't be denied from owning one. Traditional gangs shouldn't be able to own one of these by the rules since it's unreal. Mafias on the other hand, like BIG mafias could own one but only for transport through the cities. Not for running drugs or anything. If they'd be caught doing this, simply remove their whitelist access from the server. Some good defined rules about using the helicopter in a real and RP matter and strict consequences of breaking them would be good for whitelist in my opinion.
