Salvage Upgrade/Update Functions #1146

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. no

Describe the feature you'd like As we've talked about, it would be neat to have a vehicle salvage that would be 5 to 6 vehicles listed per restart and that would be the cars the player is searching for.

Additional context These are rough thoughts on how it would work;

capecodcaper commented 4 years ago

I like this idea a lot, though I think that the list should refresh when a player finds them all. Or they can skip the whole list for 2 points or however many points per vehicle still left

sbdonslaught commented 4 years ago

The reason it would be limited is that we don't want salvage to be a "full-time job" like G6. It should be a passive income job. Also meaning if it's a limited amount of vehicles that can be found, profits could be increased, giving more reward.

Definitely still needs to be discussed and decided upon, but your feedback is noted for sure! <3

I love this idea and I'd like to contribute to it with some thoughts of my own. Instead of making it a 1 car per deliver as it is now, we could get one of these https://www.gta5-mods.com/scripts/car-carrier-trailer-mod on the server that can take up 6 vehicles per cargo, then you'd be able to drive around town collecting vehicles and putting them in the truck and then deliver them all at once. Another thing that could be good to do, is to add another sort of scrap yard maybe in the scrapyard location over in Sandy Shores, the difference is that one would be legal (maybe the one in Sandy as it makes more sense) and another illegal, like the one that we already have, so the legal would give you less (let's say 40-60%) but already clean money and the other would give you more but dirty money. This is something that could be overlooked but it's just so that if cops want to pull you over you can either be doing a clean or an illegal job, so that you're not always being caught. Also, to do it as a legal job it could be used the same kind of script that the game already has from the franklin mission where he goes with Tatiana to pick up specific vehicles instead of stealing random ones.

And these are just some of the things I thought for this, let me know what your guy's thoughts are!

Thank you for the feedback!

I love the idea of a legal towing business that would help clear all the wrecked cars that end up clogging intersections. It doesn't need to be actual towing IMO & you wouldn't try to tow some burned out wreck anyway. It could instead work like picking up a dumpster for LS Recycling only with a load size of one. Something like a 5-ton flatbed that displays a generic wrecked car on the back when you're loaded? Then drop it off & repeat with a goal of 10-20 vehicles towed. Higher tier could have the option of driving the 18 wheeler vehicle transpo on longer runs.

Given the amount of wrecked and abandoned vehicles littering the streets & highways I feel this would be a fun & useful job to add.

Interesting idea @Zopfco I'm not sure we can trust many people with a flatbed as I feel people would just start to steal cars and such, but by all means, feel free to make a post of your own so your idea doesn't get lost in this thread! 👍

I feel people would just start to steal cars

Good point; even if it were limited to wrecked cars someone could just ram them with the flatbed & then pick them up. This might work better as a whitelisted tow truck driver that could then be checked out under DW Customs? Like a 3rd role to go with the shop mechanics & assistants.

(Not too familiar with how the Mechanic roles work tbh)

As far as the Mechanic Roles, it's rank based

Roadside (1st Rank when Hired): They would be strictly driving around impounding abandoned vehicles as well taking care of Roadside Assistance Call.

Cosmetic: Is Paint, Tint, Underglow and Wheels Customizations.

Body Specialist: Takes care of Body Work such as Body kits and everything the Cosmetic Rank has Access to.

Tuner Specialist: Would be Performance and everything a Body and Cosmetic can do. Pretty much everything to make it easier said.

Roadside Calls are our Top Priority, But sometimes when ranks like Cosmetic and higher Clock on we get a lot of calls coming in for shop work. That sometimes keeps the mechanic at the shop instead of being able to drive around and clean up the city. That does not excuse not answer roadside calls though, as they should reply and handle them calls. This is just why the streets are not getting cleaned up as much and having abandoned vehicles laying around.

I was just answering your not knowing how the roles work is all, I hope that helps you understand the Mechanic Job a little more.

I hope that helps you understand the Mechanic Job a little more.

It does, thanks. I didn't know impound was player-driven, I thought it was just a timed script for anything inactive.

Regarding the towing, how about adding it as (semi?)whitelisted job same as the taxis are. They would tow abandoned cars and requests by the LSPD.

-Towing cars to X location and impounding them at the set location, just so you actually have to tow the car not just coming and impounding on the scene. -(semi?)whitelist job and you would have to buy your own tow truck. -Mechanics would still be able to do roadside calls but they could prioritize vehicle tuning. Every time i see body specialist+ rank mechanic clock in they get loads of inquiries and there's a long line at the shop
