Disable Dying on Impact with Seatbelt On #3350

Closed errohrr closed 3 years ago

errohrr commented 3 years ago

Describe the current reason for this balance request

If we think of how many unnecessary “deaths” happen in ghost car collisions, cars appearing out of nowhere shouldn’t happen and local cars doing erratic movements that are humanly impossible to intentionally fuck your day up. Hundreds of others are PENALIZED to either deal with it and wait in the middle of nowhere for 10 minutes and respawn at local hospital or wait for staff for an hour to provide a clip to get rezzed. RP shouldn’t be stopped completely because of a bug we can’t fix or control. For the time being there has to be a support system for people that end up in such situations.

Describe the solution you'd like

A good fix to this would be disabling the death on impact and “Feeling: You have committed suicide” when having a seatbelt on at high speeds. Remove going down (“dying”) at high speed with a seatbelt on, if you don’t have a seatbelt on, you should fly out and deserve whatever comes to you.

What SHOULD happen is that the car crash should make the vehicle extremely damaged to the point it has to be rushed to a repair station or just broken down entirely. In addition to having your car destroyed, a massive chunk of health should be depleted on impact. Not immediate death.

Additional context Anything but immediate death on impact to bugs and unrealistic shit

I believe in the q&a that happened about a month ago, jaark mentioned that the ghost car issue was due to the fact that the top speeds are in excess of what vanilla standards are, thus its easy to go so fast that you end up running into a car which would usually have spawned far away from you.

However there are TONS of clips showing that this kinda doesn't make sense ( maybe I'm missing something). I've seen cars appear in front of my when I'm going 20 mph. I've seen cars swap positions on the road completely, teleporting to a different lane completely 30 metres behind where they were.

Unfortunately, jaark mentioned this is an issue prevalent in all fivem servers and that its something he can't directly fix. (Again, just what I heard during q&a of last month.)

i disagree with this strongly.

You can be wearing a seatbelt but if you're speeding at 150mph and crash, you're more than likely done or going to be severely hurt. Removing this mechanic will just allow people to put a seatbelt on and just speed everywhere with the only consequence being police pulling them over.

i think you should fly out of your vehicle at higher speeds then what it is now but I don't think that it should be completely disabled

Ok you haven’t read what I said…. But I’ll go ahead and reiterate. I’m talking about ghost cars and erratic spazzing out locals.

For the police thing: Police would be able to pull them over if they crash at immensely high speeds because the car is heavily damaged or destroyed. Which is part of the penalty for going high speeds…………..

Playing devils advocate here, but why don't we stop "?????" each other and provide some useful information.

Agree with Errohr's idea? Great. Agree somewhat but feel that there should be some changes before implementation? Explain what and how to make sure that if this gets added, it is done so in a good state. Disagree with his idea? Provide some actual reasons why, to stop this becoming a cry fest and the thread getting closed without comment, benefiting no one.

Feedback is a privilege, not a right for us as the player base, so why don't you guys stop treating it like a place to vent your angry thoughts at someone's idea. Thanks.

please go watch crash dummy videos at high speeds with a seatbelt on and then come back. literally the single thing that prevents ejection, you're saying "you should fly out of your vehicle at higher speeds "then" what it is now" while wearing a seatbelt...

Ok. Please stop drowning the thread with nonsense then, thank you. Please read the topic in detail and read @skryy99 comment.

I can agree, As you stated,

a massive chunk of health should be depleted on impact.

I personally feel that there should still be a small chance of death, It shouldn't be 100% death as it is right now but something like 5 or 10%. This could also vary by the speed they are going at as If they crash while going 100mph then it could be half their health gone but whereas if they crash going 180 or 200 then their health would deplete fully where they could die. I really want the system where you die when going high speeds to stay to prevent "GTA Driving" as if what was said above is going to be removed then everyone will take vehicles and driving at high speeds for granted especially on the freeway.

I understand this was a really good suggestion posted up as a counter for Ghost cars, But still, there should be some sort of an instant death system just so others don't take this for granted. I also suggest adding a Concussion effect when crashing at high speeds along with a reduction of health to even soup it up OR if speeds are very high then it would be instant death or at least a small chance of death.

I personally feel that there should still be a small chance of death, It shouldn't be 100% death as it is right now

Eat your words please, as, it's not a "100%" rate, it already functions as you've described.
