Ticket system for reimbursements #567

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. Currently there has been multiple reports of people losing extensive amounts of hard earned money on the server that results in them being told nothing can be done and then leaving the server. As much as this suggestion is unfavorable to staff I know it to be something that will retain members who were positive for the community that we no longer have due to unforeseen circumstances.

In terms of RP these random events that causes them to lose money is unnatural from a roleplay perspective and demotivates individuals to stay in the server.

Two examples:

  1. This person deposited 110k in their bank right before a tsunami. Tsunami happened. They log in after tsunami to find money gone from bank and inventory. They provided full footage showing all events.

  2. Someone bought a Lamborghini. It took them out of the purchase screen. They waited and nothing happened. They bought Lamborghini again. They are now in a Lamborghini and moments later they are teleported into another one. They now own 2 lambos. His only option now was to take a 200k loss on selling the 2nd Lamborghini.

Describe the feature you'd like A form created for individuals to file who lose 100k or higher due to an issue with either the server or fivem that was unexpected and will be reimbursed if the following can be met:

Describe alternatives you've considered Increasing minimum loss to 150k-200k?

Additional context I’m fairly certain this will either get closed or completely unfavorable from staff. I just want to open some possibilities for people who lose something they spend hours accumulating to lose it to something out of their control.

Biggest problem I see is that only one person can actually reimburse the players, and while the loss is a big issue to the player, to the community as a whole it's pretty minor and idk if it's the best use of jarrrks time. Just my opinion.

SteezyRen commented 5 years ago

Well this system isn't supposed to reimburse players immediately but it provides a little hope to those who are losing goods that staff is looking into it and if evidence shows that they lost their stuff due to server/fivem issues then staff can proceed with creating a reimburse ticket (or whatever process found efficient. Even if people were to be reimbursed in batches every 2-3 weeks or every month it's definitely better than just saying nothing can be done.

In regards to the loss issue being minor to the community as a whole, I think it's more than minor. People are just waiting for something major to happen to them as an excuse to not come back simply because they know any losses out of their control will just result in them being SOL.

I think like submitting tickets for items as long as your recording and are able to prove the loss that was non player impacted that this should be able to be submitted. But like much of the other application or submittions there should be a follow up feature or status feature enabled. to assist players know where their issues are at in completetion. Instead of getting a bunch of DM to admins and such Git hub or bots for this are i think a good solution?

What you've mentioned, we already do. If someone dupe purchases a vehicle, we can refund the money. Much like in other situations with clear video proof.

SteezyRen commented 5 years ago

There has been over 6 different instances that I can recall at the top of my head in the last 1-2 months where people had proof and were redirected to post in support on the discord in hopes that it will get yours or another admins attention to help them with processing a reimbursement.

I even sent you a DM regarding someones issue with losing 110k due to a rollback on the server after a scheduled reset (or whatever the cause may be) and it was ignored. They even tried reaching out to support channels and they were ignored. There are 4 other people I know that are in the same position.

So that is why I suggested the following. Either something to organize how people request it other than posting in support and hope for your attention (or an admin) or having some guidelines somewhere on this as it has happened to a lot of people. Most are just told to "take the L" or "there are no reimbursements" in which I never seen a single staff member say that isn't true.

Jarrrk, I can’t believe what you just said when I was the guy with the dupe lambo purchase the other night, I sat in waiting for staff for about an hour only to be told that there is nothing I can do and have to “just take the L on this one and sell your duped lambo” which I did. I record my sessions with Plays.tv and delete the recording after each session due to the huge size of the file, in no way way I told by whoever it was I spoke to that I could get a refund of the $210k I lost by selling the lambo if I had video proof. Now you’re saying that I should provide video proof?

In my opinion I’ve gone and lost $210k because of server lag AND your moderators lack of knowledge of your rules. If he had told me to provide a clip I would have spent the time using a video editor to crop the extensive time it took me waiting for my purchase only for me to click it again because I thought I hadn’t bought the car only for it to spawn me in a dupe lambo as I was driving out of the car showroom.

So I guess I just have to “take the L” because I’ve deleted the footage because your mod told me there’s nothing I can do?

It would be nice if you can clear this up for me, ever since losing that money I’ve noticed my playtime has decreased dramatically compared to how often I used to come on due to the fact that I’m never sure if and when I’m going to go lose another huge chunk of money and having to take another L.

By the way, I decided to come on the day after and purchased myself the Transalp motorbike, the exact same thing happened, I clicked buy, then it sent me back to the vehicle purchase menu again like it did with my lambo but this time I sat and waited for about a minute or two till it finally black screened me onto my purchase. Think it’s something you need to look into.

No idea why this is turning into a witch hunt, like @bloombydee stated to start with, only one person can issue refunds and that's myself. Staff don't have any involvement in money or banks etc and will never have that kind of access as it could potentially be exploited,

I even sent you a DM regarding someones issue with losing 110k due to a rollback on the server after a scheduled reset (or whatever the cause may be) and it was ignored.

@SteezyRen With the little time I do have to get on a PC after my hours at work, don't you think patching exploits that ruin the entire economy, handling cheaters/ban evaders or even people duplicating money/items is a better use of my hour or so when I'm online? I hardly reply to important things let alone random reimbursements.

Either something to organize how people request it other than posting in support and hope for your attention (or an admin) or having some guidelines

Here's the problem, this is a pretty isolated issue in which it's either pretty rare that something 'glitches', or it's a reoccurring issue i.e rollbacks (which is a user issue). By making a channel or 'guidelines' you're quite literally opening a box in which people will try-hard attempt to pull a fast one and get some free cash by manipulating whatever 'rules' or 'guidelines' are put in place.

Another one,

This person deposited 110k in their bank right before a tsunami. Tsunami happened. They log in after tsunami to find money gone from bank and inventory.

You're not technically minded but let me break it down, the bank will only ever take money from you if it has FIRST put the money in the players account - to which in the same ms it saves the player. You don't understand how easy it is to manipulate a video/interface to show myself for example depositing a million and the bank interface updating and showing the amount then leaving and it's not there, because it was never there in the first place, I'm not going to mention the method in which you can do this as it's quite literally a client-side interface able to be changed.

Now you’re saying that I should provide video proof?

@swanseahitman Hasn't this always been suggested? Isn't this displayed on the guide when you first enter the server? Isn't this what staff always ask for in regards to ANY situation?

In my opinion I’ve gone and lost $210k because of server lag

That's not how 'servers lag' works, don't just throw theories out there when you don't know what you're talking about.

Think it’s something you need to look into.

You 'think' or I need to? You're in the issue tracker but haven't submitted an issue, doesn't seem to make sense for someone that has had this 'issue' before.

I’ve noticed my playtime has decreased dramatically

Okay?

We can't trust that every person is going to have good intentions, a lot don't and we know this by now, opening a channel for this stuff is like opening Pandora's box so it's not going to happen.

I will outline with staff our 'partial refund policy' and make sure that "Compensation is available for players that have experienced clear-cut 'server issues' with video evidence, this will also need to align with various server log files and will require an administrator to provide a decision on the request." in the basic info.

Hey Jarrk, i wasn't having a go at you or the mods or the server, i was just stating what was told to me by your mods during my talk in the discord with whichever moderator it was. I wasn't told to supply anyone with video evidence and to take the L, why would i suddenly think "oh i'll go clip it anyway and carry on annoying the mods/yourself with something they've already told me is out of their hands and is basically a done deal". The only reason i'm bringing it back up is because someone else spoke about the issue i had, even then i didn't think anything of it and continued to take the L, it was only when you said the following quote that i thought i'd voice my opinion;

If someone dupe purchases a vehicle, we can refund the money.

Your moderator did not tell me this, meaning i just forgot about it and deleted my footage. Now if i was told this by your moderator in the discussion i had with him i would have done what you said.

And to reference your comment for not knowing what lag really means or what the actual problem was that caused me to sit there not getting my car after i'd hit purchase, that's just being petty. I work in the construction trade, not with computers, i make sure your house looks nice not how your server runs, you knew what i meant and when i said it happened again the day after, i was only suggesting you look at it.

I'm just a normal middle aged bloke who enjoys your server and wanted to voice my opinion on a matter that involved myself, i know you must get annoyed at people pressing situations on yourself but come on mate, no need to get so arsey about it.

edit: i know i've deleted the footage so won't get a refund but at least i know what to do in the future if it happens again. Thanks for everything you've put into this server and community, i really do appreciate it as playing here has helped me get through a pretty shitty few months of my life. For that i'm grateful. Keep up the good work.
