So what happens when that person decides to leave the server for good? Now that car is nowhere to be found ever again so whats the point in taking up server resources for it? I get your idea, but I think it needs to be more fleshed out.
Thats why i suggested to 'import' 1 of those cars per month or something, to give others a chance to buy such vehicles still
If that’s the case. If I steal your car I should get to keep it then. Lol until the cops get it back for you. It sounds real cool but I just don’t see it working
Obviously the insurance system would still be the same as it is. If you steal my Aventador, and i pull one out of insurance then we kind of duplicated it for that session and would be considered an exploit.
Not sure where you get the 'if i steal your car, i get to keep it' from.
Do you know how many lambos are out there in LA? i dont get it
Sure there are quite a few, but i am also pretty sure 90% of those people that drive Lambo's over there, aren't criminals that rob banks every single day. Realism doesn't mean gamebalance
This problem is partially mitigated due to the new insurance system, though, I do feel cars could be ‘in stock’ maybe once a month depending on the rarity, as you’re right, a dealer isn’t going to have an unlimited stock of chirons available.
If its like that half the server would grind for that money and as soon as it comes on the shop they would all go to shop and it would be a matter of time.. The first one who clicks to buy it gets it and it will be a shit show
There will always be money farmers ruining the RP aspect of roleplay servers sadly. I just hope people start to realize that a vehicle is an extension of the type of character you play. Playing a criminal? Buy cars that don't attract too much attention or people will start to wonder where he gets such big amounts of money from. Playing a hobo? Buy a bike or maybe a crappy car that you can RP to sleep in etc
I love the idea . This way seeing a supercar means something and they hold their value. Personally I feel the way it have to work would be , every week or so a random supercar out of like 15-20 is available and maybe have auctions ? This way even if everyone wants to rush to the dealership , it isnt about who gets it first , its who wants it more. Just an idea to keep it fair . But i do hate how everyone with money tends to drive the same cars ; P1,GTR,Huracan etc. It would would make more sense to create diversity so that you could then even know people based on the rare car they have .
With the new upcoming insurance and mechanic upgrade prices I really don't think a lot of people will own super cars, as they will be very expensive to maintain.
@Real50BMG | With the new Insurance system in place I don't see a reason to put a limit for fast cars.. Obviously you'll be aware of which car you're buying and how much investment that car will need and else.. Having 1 Lambo owner who will get spammed by god knows how many people doesn't seem like a great way to go. If you're financially stable get the car you want, sell it when it's no longer understandable to maintain.
@NiftyLad | Auctions are always around something unique not basic cars. Real life theory: If all of us had a $5mil when we turn 18 you really think you wouldn't see 50 Lambos per day? -- Also, way you RP shouldn't decide which car you're driving as Cops/Mechanics/Paramedics can always do stock market on the side but still do the job they love therefor the luxury. If someone RPs as a Hobo on the street, rusty car || bmx is probably most realistic so +1 on that.
Here's some thoughts from my perspective:
This would be a nice quality of life change, taking into account @Real50BMG's original points when suggesting this - he's right. As I said myself, I really hate the fact that the luxury dealer has infinite amounts of some incredibly rare and expensive cars and feel we could expand this to not only add a further touch of realism but also introduce a 'Exotic Car Dealer' role as originally suggested in issue #290.
To expand on this, I think the luxury dealer should be locked down for 'employees only', move other, more common 'Luxury' vehicles into a new dealership that have a capped stock that is refreshed every 24 hours.
Salesmen/women should have the ability to 'order in' a vehicle that isn't currently in stock which takes time depending on the category of vehicle to arrive. When it arrives it should be placed into a vehicle inventory only the 'salespeople' can access (similar to a garage), which can be retrieved for test drives and also transferring to new owners.
I like the concept but this would make room to a new whitelist job?
100% new whitelist job, and I'm fully down for it! Sounds amazing
Yeah sounds good would add a lot more RP experience
I may be biased as I am a mech, but I think this opportunity should be given to experienced mechanics. - Or somehow be an extension of the Mechanic department. I don't think having it as it's own job is going to provide much RP due to the fact that these cars won't be purchased regularly (That's the whole point.. to limit the number of luxury cars), so there will be A LOT of downtimes. Having it tied to DW (or mech dept in general) people could come down to the job and inquire about a specific vehicle, could also put the office upstairs to use!
^ I don’t see what mechanics have to do with this job tho’. This should be a fresh whitelist job, a new job; not an extension for something like mechanics.
Edit: To explain myself, it should be the same thing as the lawyer job; independent job, not given only to the ‘experienced cops’ for example.
While I understand the idea of keeping it within Mechanics, I think this would be something that would be similar to Dynasty 8, purely a sales role.
Let This be a separate Job. There is literally no sense between The 2 Jobs
D8 expand to the vehicular market and open a showroom? :eyes:
Nah.
Describe the current reason for this balance request Currently, there are tons of people driving exclusive cars like Lamborghini Aventadors, McLaren's and other super high end cars which makes very little sense considering what kind of character they RP as.
Describe the solution you'd like For example: Only have 1 Lamborghini Aventador for sale. Once someone buys it, it will never become available anymore through the dealership. The person that wants to buy the Aventador has to go to the owner and ask if he can buy it from him. If that's too extreme, have for example 1 Aventador being 'imported' per month, so others can have a chance at buying it.
Additional context Having a system like this in place will make the streets more 'normal' looking and seeing a supercar driving around should be a rarity. Most people play criminal-type characters and having them drive around in supercars makes very little sense: vehicles should be an extension of your character. For example: If you play like a lawyer, driving a car for work like a Mercedes s500 would make sense, and maybe have a nice Ferrari on the side for in your free time.
Having certain vehicles only be available in limited quantities will deplete the current vehicle-pool quite quickly obviously so if it's needed/wanted, I would love to help with the implementation/balancing of vehicles to increase the rate of new vehicles entering the Highlife servers.
