Main Menu doesn't reload properly with external HDD #309

What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. Load game from External 3.5" HDD Enclosure
2. Play for sufficient amount of time (finishing stage 1-1 in Super Mario 3 is
sufficient if not rushed)
3. Press Home button, return to main menu

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Expected to return to main menu normally. Instead saw blank game list (only a
white box with non-working scroll bar); Exit and Settings buttons act as if
they were pressed, but do nothing. Home and power button cause screen to go
blank but music still loops.

Oddly, the FCE Ultra GX icon brings up credits as expected.

Does this issue occur on FCE Ultra for Windows?

No.

What version are you using? On GameCube or Wii?

3.2.3 for Wii

Are you using the official build (from the downloads page or auto-update)?

Yes, grabbed from downloads page.

Please provide any additional information below.

Issue does not occur in 3.2.2 (I downgraded and checked), nor does it appear to
occur with games loaded from flash drives. The HDD enclosure I'm using is
generic but has not caused me any difficulty with playing games in the past.

This was tested with both stage 1-1 of Super Mario Bros. 3 (U) (PRG0) and Spark
Man revisited in Mega Man 3 (U).

This bug also occurs in the most recent version of Visual Boy Advance GX
(2.2.2) when tested by completing the introduction stage of Mega Man Zero 4
(US). Have not tested SNES9x GX.

Correction:
Home button doesn't do anything, power button still causes black screen.

this is a problem with the HDD falling asleep and not waking up properly. this
isn't a problem with the app but rather the libraries (ie: libogc) it uses.
that said, you might see some improvement on the next version. if not, get a
usb flash drive, sd card, or play over smb.
