Exception Error/Dump Upon Entering Menu From Loaded sram #541

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Load a rom
2.Navigate past point in game where sram is used
3.Enter snes9xgx menu

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The menu should appear, a crash results instead.

Does this issue occur on SNES9x for Windows 1.52? If so, please report the
issue on the Snes9x forum.
No

What version are you using? On GameCube or Wii?
4.2.1 Wii with latest 202 ios

Are you using the official build (from the downloads page or auto-update)?
Yes

Please provide any additional information below.
I have confirmed this with both zelda and yoshis island.
Here is what it outputted from zelda:

STACK DUMP:
8032af5c --> 802f4780 --> 802f9238 --> 8022715c

CODE DUMP:
8032af5c: 7C0B48AE 7C0A49AE 39290001 4200FFF4
8032af6c: 4E800020 3925FFF0 5529E13E 39290001
8032af7c: 7D2903A6 7C691B78 800B0000 90090000

The menu will function fine in the early stages of the rom loading, but after a
game save is loaded from within either game, accessing the menu will result in
a crash. I believe the crash occurs from the saving it does whenever the menu
is accessed. Attached is the srm file I used.

I can confirm this problem. Any game I play that I save in results in the code
dump error.

Hmmm. I did get a code dump, too; it's weird, when I loaded a game that doesn't
utilize SRAM, it loaded just fine (like the Megaman X series). However, when I
tried to load Earthbound or Secret of Mana, the emulator freaked out on me and
was forced to reboot the wii. Perhaps a quick bugfix release is all that is
needed, right, dborth?
I know how frustrating this must be for you, especially after pinpointing and
fixing the major sound and framerate skipping issues.

I don't experience this. Do you use USB, or have anything plugged into USB?

I did when I first tested. I went back again and unplugged all usb and removed
a dvd from the drive. It still crashes in the exact same manner unfortunately.

I can confirm this problem happens to me too... and I don't use anything USB or
DVD related. I'm 100% SDHC (emulator, ROMs, SRAM, etc.)

@xcinder360, I use SDHC as well (Kingston, 8GB, FAT32 file system). So, I've
tried a few settings (autoload/autosave SRAM functions, both off and on) and
the SRAM files load just fine (they show and you can load from them just fine).
But twice, when I try to go back to the Snes9xGx menu, I get this:

apologize if these constant error reports are making your life that much more
stressful.

Do all of you have USB202 installed? If so, try uninstalling and let me know if
the problem goes away.

Just tried that (uninstalling IOS202), and it didn't work. Still crashing on
games that use an SRAM.

are you on filtered/unfiltered/original?

Original comment by dborth@gmail.com on 17 Jul 2010 at 6:07

I can confirm this exception.
Happens after 5-8 menu exits to change the video settings from
filtered/unfiltered.

Let me try just exiting and re-entering the game and see if that does it.

BTW, using 2GB SDcard (kingston). Never had any problems before this latest
version.

Oh wow, that was quick! Would you like us to compile our own .dol files from
SVN?

Or you could wait until USB is also fixed, and then a new release will be
forthcoming.

Everytime when I'm done playing a game (like a few seconds) It shows the dump
screen and when I press reload the wii freezes! I really dislike this new
update. Can you please fix it..
