All GBA games lag #92

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Load GBA game
2. Attempt to play

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

From reading older and current issues it seems as if most users are able
to play GBA games without lag, ie, normally. Every game I try lags.
Sprites move so slow that the game is unplayable. Also, the music at
times plays correctly, but mostly there is a "crackling" noise underneath
the audio. GB and GBC games run perfectly.

Does this issue occur on VBA-M r781 (http://vba-
m.ngemu.com/vbam/vbacompiles/msvc2008/VisualBoyAdvance781.7z)? If so,
please report the issue to the VBA-M forum.

No.

What version of the product are you using? On GameCube or Wii?

Gamecube

Please provide any additional information below.

I'm using the Datel SD Media Card. I have it in the second memory card
slot. I'm running roms off of an SD Ultra II 2GB card (15MB/s). I have
tried to change the filter settings, but this doesn't help.

Most users are running on a Wii rather than a GameCube, so that might be why
they are
not getting the same lag. I don't have a GameCube to test on.

Are you running on PAL? Some people have reported problems with the sound when
using
PAL 50Hz (on a Wii), but no in PAL 60Hz.

This could have something to do with that on GameCube the ROM is being accessed
constantly from your SD card. If it's having issues reading-writing fast enough
from
SD, that could be the issue. The other thing is, it'll never run full speed,
and
some games it will run slow, especially on GameCube. Either way, there's not
much we
can do for you here. Sorry.

Thanx all for the info. It looks as if GBA emulation on the Wii is the way to
go.
How do the GBA roms perform on the Wii? I'd like to get a Wii, but it looks
like
the NES, SNES, GEN, and GBA/GB/GC emulators don't output in 480p as they do on
the
Gamecube. Does anyone know if they (developers) will be able to acheive this
someday?

They output in 480p quite nicely right now. You just need a component video
cord,
and then set it to component on your Wii settings.
