Don't put a FET on the ground pin. It can float your ground relative to system ground due to the voltage loss over the FED substrate diode.

I'll go back to the good old fashioned serries diode for reverse bias protection.

I was pulling from here: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slva139/slva139.pdf of course floating your ground wouldn't be an issue for a battery powered device. that's what I get for paying attention.
