Interesting repo.

Was this project abandoned? How were the .md files updated? Is this the source of the data?

JasonMWhite commented 8 years ago

Not really abandoned, but I've been working on trying to get earlier acts into the repo. The source of data (here) only has the versions of each act back where they were in 2002. Prior to that, I need to use the Revised Statutes of Canada, snapshots that were passed every ~15-20 years. They're only available in PDF format, so I'm experimenting with various ways of extracting the data from there.

The .md files were created using https://github.com/JasonMWhite/gitlawca-scraper

@JasonMWhite I see this comment was made more than two years; however I'm curious as to whether the project has been abandoned and if you have any strategy for reviving it. I'd be most happy to help, and I'm sure PDF extraction must have improved recently.

Hey @AlexandreCassagne thanks for reaching out. I have actually recently restarted an attempt to revive the scraper here: https://github.com/JasonMWhite/congenial-waffle

Still early days, but I'm working on it when I have time. I hope to have enough time this summer to get it into working shape.
