Random DJ step down without notification #33

Open Maksime opened 7 years ago

Hello,

Love the app, I use it daily at work but we've noticed a quite annoying bug.

When users are not playing the current song but are queued as DJ, for some unknown reason, they get kicked out of DJing without any warning (no notification in chat).

We've been using it with 4 or 5 people and everyone experienced this bug at least once.

I personnaly use it on Windows 10 / Chrome 59

Hey,

Thanks for calling this out. I know about it and it's definitely my highest priority right now. Will keep you posted when it gets resolved (should hopefully be within the week).

Hello,

Do you have any news for this issue ?

It's getting quite annoying as it seems to be more and more frequent

Thanks for your work :)

Hey, thanks for following up. Yes I do.

So the issue is due to dropped sockets over the network. I tweaked a couple of variables last week and have been asking around to see if it had any positive effect (since I can't recreate the issue for myself). I was under the impression it caused the issue to happen less frequently and not more so it's good to know that you're still having issues.

Can you help me out by answering the following:

  1. Where are you located (country/state)
  2. How's your internet connection?
  3. How frequently does this happen for you
  4. Are there any steps you can take to recreate the issue? Or does it always happen out of the blue.

Thanks for your help- hopefully I can get to the bottom of this ASAP!

Hey,

Thanks for the heads up, here are the information you ask, if it can be of any help :

  1. I am in France
  2. It's a quite good connection : 400MB/s download, 200MB/s upload (We share the same connection as we use it between coworkers)
  3. Based on the logs of our channel, it seems to be every 30min or so, sometimes 10min
  4. Unfortunately, we haven't found any way to reproduce it consistently. From our perspective it looks really random. We'll try to reproduce it today, I'll keep you updated if we find anything.

Thank you for you quick answers, hope you can fix it soon, we really love the app here but this kinda ruins the fun sometimes :)

Thanks for the info!

I ran a proxy from France for a couple of hours yesterday and didn't have any issues. I'm going to keep trying though with a few other proxies so I can get to the bottom of this.

In the meanwhile I tweaked some variables that should theoretically help with the issue. I can't confirm/deny that it has any effect though since I still can't recreate the issue. But if all of a sudden the issue is resolved on your end (fingers crossed!) let me know so I can be confident I'm heading in the right direction.

Thanks again & sorry about the inconvenience!
