There are two main parts:
I have ported over my notebooks on the fake maps from the mariano-velocity-statistics repo. Also, I divided the finite map exploration into a separate notebook from the seeing exploration. This part is not new.
I have tested how reliable the model fits are for determining r0 and sig2 in the presence of the finite box effect. It turns out to work very well so long as L > 3 r0.
This is something that had been bothering me ever since I realized that the finite map effect should not be included in the models. I have made a new figure, which I will be including in the appendix:
This shows that the model fits (colored dots) are much better than the empirical measurement (dashed line) for determining the parameters over most of the range.
