Hardware keyboard on Samsung Captivate Glide #57

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Start Terminal IDE application on Samsung Captivate Glide
2. Open a terminal
3. Open the 4-row hardware keyboard and try to type a number or any character 
that is obtained using the blue Alt key.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The non-altered character is printed. For example, if I press Alt-Q I get 'q', 
and I expect to get '1'.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.99 on Android 2.3

Please provide any additional information below.

This Alt key sends code 57.

I get the same behavior in my Motorola xt860 (Milestone 3). I would be awesome 
to be able to use my physical keyboard with this app...

This is a very annoying issue and pretty much completely prevents me from using 
terminal ide.  Any ideas here?

I'm experiencing similar issues with samsung stratosphere 2, model SCH-I415, 
android 4.1.2.  keystroke logger records 57 when pressing Fn key on slideout 
qwerty keyboard.  using soft keyboard doesnt record key codes for "/" character 
and the like so I can manually map them.  was hoping there were some tips to 
enable the toggle function to get those characters

Similar problems on both LG Enact and Samsung Relay.
Also bug exists in ZShaoline, so I just have no alternative
