UPDATE: 05.03.2022 UTC+8

oh hey, jaycee remembered his password lmao

OKAY! So you probably have been wondering where I have been lately and why there hasn't been any update regarding EarlyGame lately, and I'm here to address that.

The current state of this mod

I've always seen EarlyGame as some sort of a personal project cuz I really love the No Tree Punching and Natural Progression Forge mods, and it was my attempt on making it a reality on Fabric. That being said, I don't really have a particular roadmap as to how I would go on with this mod other than just putting these beloved features on Fabric while adding stuff to give the mod as somewhat of a distinct feeling from other similar mods. Hence, the implementation of the slingshot. That point on, I wanted to add something more. Maybe some other primitive tools? A "woodcutter" (which is a counterpart of stonecutter haha so original lmao)? A backport? Or just stick to balance changes and stuff? Maybe I just need a little bit of a slow-mo to address this thing, I guess lol

If I do have a roadmap on how this mod will go... (no particular ETA however cuz timing is pretty inconsistent lmao)

Only the latest point release from now on

I've been making this mod compatible with the older point releases of each Minecraft version as much as possible because I want the players to use this mod no matter which point release they are playing on. Then I realized something: "Who plays on the older point releases anyway when the latest ones are usually better? LMAO" So I've come to the resolution: just stick to whatever is the latest in every major release. So if you wanted to play this mod while you're still in, let's say, 1.16.1, I definitely recommend you to upgrade to the latest point release (in this case, 1.16.5). With that in mind, all future releases of this mod will focus on the latest point releases (1.16.5, 1.18.2).

Oh, and speaking of that...

1.17 is moving to 1.18

Minecraft 1.18 marks the release of Caves and Cliffs Part 2, which means the whole world generation overhaul is now complete! About EarlyGame however, straight to the point: I won't be updating it for 1.17 anymore. The reason for that is because I believe that 1.18 is the definitive Caves and Cliffs experience. Change my mind.

Feel free to object, though! If people still want EarlyGame for 1.17, I'll try to make it possible. However that still will not change the fact that my main focus as of right now is development for 1.16 and 1.18.

This mod is an open project! Everyone can contribute!

You're welcome to suggest any additions! Feel free to open an issue and I'll handle the rest (probably lol). OOOOOOR if you are a mod developer, feel free to contribute your addition! This project is an open project, which means anyone willing to contribute can do so! Fork this source code, then once you're done with something you wanted to add or improve, open a pull request and I'll credit you for your hardwork!

My vision for projects like this has been the focus on community effort. If you can bring something to the table, you're free to do so! Just a solid reminder however that the code here must not be claimed as entirely yours.

Personal stuff

Now for the part where I have been missing for a long time. Getting straight to the point, I'm focusing on finishing an Information Technology college degree, so I'll be having less time spent on this project. Don't worry. I'm still alive, successfully beat C*VID-19 and still kicking! Just not really focused on EarlyGame right now. Oh, and I've actually bought Minecraft: Java Edition for real.

Aaaaand that's pretty much it. Hopefully you would understand the situation I am in. Apologies for not being there to update EarlyGame for almost a year (man, time flies...) but I hope you still enjoy playing with it!

Stay strong, stay healthy and stay positive. Love lots. 💜

UPDATE: 07.15.2022 UTC+8

So I have something to say: there's been a lot of controversy going on with the recent updates in Minecraft, especially in 1.19. As you might have heard, the upcoming 1.19.1 will have an option for users to report someone in the chat for various reasons, and while a reporting system to me is actually a really needed feature and all that, I know that there will be consequences for this. A lot of the Java servers have their own moderation system, but this will be almost irrelevant now with the said feature dropping in the next update despite Mojang understanding a lot of negative feedback surrounding it, and I'm 90% sure it's not Mojang's fault. Plus there will be a lot of bad actors abusing this feature, and there's almost nothing you can do against it. Most of the time I don't trust "official support" because they can make questionable decisions, but I do hope these "professionally trained" moderators would not just drop the guilty-until-proven-innocent hammer upon everyone.

Now how is it related to this mod? I know this should not affect the development of the mod big time, but I'm kind of in a dilemma whether to release it for 1.19.1, or not to in response to the controversial situation. Lemme know what you think.

UPDATE: 10.18.2022 UTC+8

I updated the setup guide to reflect on the current situation. The main keyholder for PolyMC has gone haywire and started crusading against "radical leftists".
