[Feature Request] Add "Hide/Show Chapter" Feature #527

Why/User Benefit/User Problem

If you read in MangaDex, you really often see the double same chapter with different scanlation group on a manga, it's little bit annoying.

What/Requirements

Just choose what chapter that you want to hide and long press the chapter and the "Hide/Show" option is come up. Have the option to hide or show only on bookmarked manga.

Thank you.

why not just mark it as read? if you are gonna have a manual hide option

XxJibril commented 3 years ago

its a shame that in MangaDex they arent sorted by scanlation group like in MangaPark i dunno if that can be changed in the extension settings

Sadly, I doubt the developer will be interested. They were at least not back in issue #136 which originated from an earlier Issue about the same. Personally, I feel this should be added, especially for something like MangaDex considering you can have plenty of scanlation groups for the same story or just different kinds of chapters. Outright blocking them is not a good solution, like some tend to suggest, because they may be posting for other stories that you do want to follow. Likewise, marking as read or unread is horribly inefficient since you can't click and hold to select multiple, only mark all. Thus, if it is something like Tsugumomo, you have to manually go through and set all chapters you don't want to unread... which takes some time. And I don't know about you guys, but I'd prefer not spending half an hour doing that.

The user mataha over in this issue on the main branch explains quite well why something like this is very nice to have and a good solution by simply allowing users to use regex. It's a bit more advanced than what most are comfortable with, so something like clicking and holding and then manually selecting the chapters you want to hide and then pressing a button to hide them could be an alternative. But both are nice.

any updates regarding this feature requests?

GreatestFool commented 4 months ago

Not as far as I'm aware.

i believe it was fulfilled since we can now filter scanlator groups (which was what OP wanted) as well as filter unread/bookmarked/downloaded chaps

filtering it based on unread/bookmark/downloaded is very terible UX, you can't have bookmarks when you're filtering it by boomarks, and so on.

marking it also doesn't change the fact that filtered entry would still load when you're reading manga, it should be skipping it if it was an intended use for it.
