Support for iPhone earphones with microphone #306

Hi,

Lately I'm using my iPhone headphones to call. One thing I miss is support to 
hang up when pressing the button on my earphones. Support for this would 
be great :)

I’m not sure it’s available via public API, but it would be nice.

It works with iTunes. I can start/stop iTunes with this button.

Does the headphone jack support the built-in microphone?  Is this even an 
option on the hardware?

I'd love to see the button work to hang up, too.  That'd put a nice finish to 
this application.

Yes, Jim, the headphone jack supports the iPhone 4 prong headphone, with the 
headphone's microphone.  Pretty amazing that it works, because getting a device 
to fit with "line-in" is very expensive with the MBP.  This is a nice feature.  
I use it for my office phone instead of the corporate phones that I have.

petonic, are you sure? What about headphones from the previous iPhones?

It will work perfectly if you put your headphones inside the headphones hole on 
any unibody MacBook, including AIR.
