Enhancement: Create a Data Visualization for Indigenous People within U.S.A.

I would like to implement a feature that shows a map of every indigenous tribe within the United State (and perhaps the world). The data should use an API and an existing map technology (probably Google Map's?).

Test Cases:

1. The map should use an API on the back-end and some type of map interface on the front-end.
2. The map should show icons at the approximate location of each tribe.
3. The user should have the ability to click on each icon to view information about the tribe (This could be number of tribes in the area).

Currently there exists no API for Indigenous Tribes within the US. However, there should exist some public database with records of tribes in the country as I know the federal government keeps records of each tribe in a census.
