One more thing! I'm sort of hoping to use some Morrowind book XML files for the XSLT homework exercises coming up very soon, but I need some XML to work with...Help? :-) Can you start making some XML so there's a nice selection by 10/28 or 10/30 this next week? @JeremyF5737 @Joelpie @Tricky-Keys
I have a website up for us on filezilla and it is functioning great: http://morrowind.newtfire.org/
For Project Checkpoint 3 (from last week), I'm looking to see some serious progress on the XML markup to test out your schema, as well as some website development, really just to establish a presence for the project.
I know that @Tricky-Keys has been working on (and reworking) the website files, but there's still as of 24 Oct no web presence, so I think something's not quite right here. In the meeting yesterday (F 10/23), I'm hoping we cleared up some confusion. I can see some image files in your project web directory but the index.html is still my boilerplate starter file.
The schema is looking clean and clear, but it's waiting to be applied to some XML for the Morrowind books! I know @JeremyF5737 has been working on accumulating quite a pile of clean text files for markup, and the team will need to "hit the ground running" to turn these into XML. Please be sure you're associating that schema that you've all been working on so you always use the elements and attributes you figured out!
I'm getting a little bit lost looking in the repo for XML files, and that's because they're up in the top level of the directory mixed up with Word documents and some miscellaneous HTML stuff. Time to tidy up the repo so we can find stuff! Suggestions:
You might want to make your XML (maybe at first) in the same directories with your source text files if that's just easier.
Make sure all the HTML, CSS, and images for the website is organized in its own directory, perhaps just named "web". Set it up exactly as it should go up to the newtfire web server so all your relative file associations just always work.
I contributed my own XSLT to the general mess. You could create an XSLT directory, as you'll be starting to write that for the project as soon as you have some XML to process!
You'll want to store the author and location XML files we made maybe in their own directory? I'll need to help you out with how to work with these once you've prepared some XML for the Morrowind books. And the team really needs to get to work on that part so you have some data to process soon!
