I know the Italic glyphs will not be 1-to-1 with the Regular glyphs (fractions with the 'frac' feature enabled are a good example), especially in the case of glyph variants.
That said, ¢ and the $>, <$, and <$> ligatures all get substituted with usual "broken bar" variants when cv14 is used in both the Regular and Italic glyph sets, so it seemed odd to me that $ by itself is only substituted in the Regular glyph set.
I patched and rebuilt my local copy, so you can see the difference for yourself below (cv14 is used for the entire table):
I only noticed this one by chance, so there might be other glyphs with similar issues.
