Could be anyone, maybe even with motives that have nothing to do with exploiting systems.

Maybe a big software vendor (or a bunch of them) got together and come up with a psyOp to show the world how vulnerable open source software is.

Only to have the plan backfire based on how quick it got caught...

@ebenali the very fact that such an obscure, complex and obfuscated exploit got caught on so quickly just shows what open source is capable of. This was not just sheer luck.
