Do you have a USB 2.0 or DVD cIOS installed? Try uninstalling.

a plugged-in WBFS formated hd might be the reason as well

I have the same issue. No offense to those who did but they kinda hijacked my
issue
post, and closed it prematurely (See issue 149) It was originally suggested that
network connection settings played a role in this, which seemed likely since my
copy
of 4.0 stopped working right around when i began messing with my settings (and
since
im on a college campus with no wireless connection i cannot reset it to connect
anywhere). A "fix" was posted dealing with uninstalling dvdx and reinstalling
normally, which im near certain mine is, so that cannot be the problem.
Can you still install DVDX on 4.0? I am hesitant to go reinstall it if theres a
chance i won't be able to, otherwise im pretty sure it's installed normally on
mine.

inighthawki, it's really bad that the problem still happening to you. Getting ride
off DVDX of IOS202 and reinstalling it again in the normal option, definitely
did
solve the problem to me, but i still thinking that there's a bug with SMB or
the emu
update system.

lyrmathews, can dvdx be reinstalled on 4.0? i was under the assumption you
can't, and
i'd rather keep dvdx for future use if possible. I have had 008/009/4.0+
snes9xgx
working before with the same dvdx installation, but somewhere inbetween i DID
mess
with some network settings. Right now i cannot change them but i will be back
home in
just a few weeks so i can reset some of the network settings then. Until then i
will
have to wait or until a fix is released (its a bug so it should be able to be
fixed...)
There's no emergency to get it working, as i rarely play many roms, but i would
still
like it to work so i can play games on a gamecube controller when im away from
home
and/or dont have my pc.

none of those should be required except dvdx for dvd reading, though thats
never been
an issue for me before. this is definitely a bug and should be fixed, no cios
should
be needed to run something that used to work.

Not a bug in the emulator, it's those cIOS's screwing things up. My virgin Wii
works
just fine.

YOU ARE RIGHT I HAVE INSTALLED FROM 9 TO 55 ALL IOS ON MORE THAN TEN WII'S AND
IT ONLY REQUIRES THESE CIOS cIOS 247,cios 09,cios 16,dvdx247,cios36rev8 AND
THEN
KABOOOM IT WORKS!

thats a bug dborth, ive used this emu before without them, which means that
while
they may fix it, its not a proper solution

I agree with you inighthawki, it's definitely a bug with the emulator, because
the
solution is to mess strategically with the IOS's, in other words, it's a cheap
workaround for the bug. And even with this method i still have some problems,
because
when DVDX is installed in the normal mode, i can access de emu without internet
connection, but it wont read any of my DVD's, it says "Invalid DVD", but the
same
DVD's works fine if DVDX is installed in IOS249 or IOS202. But as always, in the
second case, no internet connection, no go.

I had the same issue, but was able to work around it by deleting the SNES9X.xml
file
inside the Roms folder as well as the preferences xml inside the snes9x
directory.
Perhaps an incompatibility with the 4.0.3 versions of these files?

This is definitively NOT a bug with emulators. The only thing that emulators do
is
lauching the dvdx channel in background to be able to read DVD. No cIOS are
meant to
be reloaded unless you specified it during the DVDx installation.
So, it's either a bug with DVDX when used with a specific cIOS or a wrong
installation of DVDX/cIOS on your side. The normal DVDX installation works
perfectly
fine on "vigin" Wii (i.e without any hardware or software "modifications")
CIOS should ONLY be required if you have a modchip and cannot use DVDX normal
installation.
In all case, this should not be reported as an emulator bug (the fact it works
by
messing up with IOS proves on the contrary that it's a bug related to the mess
on
your Wiis).

But what you don't understand is that I have run this emulator before and it
worked
fine, and only stopped working when i messed with the internet settings(or
something
i dont remember doing around that time), something that installing a cios
apparently
fixes. Also on occasions vbagx, which has the same problem, seemed to start up
ok,
which is quite clearly a bug if it works sometimes and not others. I will be
going
home in about 2 weeks and i can finally reset my net connection and see if that
helps.

Argue all you want, the emulators aren't doing anything special that would
cause
this issue, just the ordinary stuff. If there's an issue somewhere, it's not
specifically in the code on this app, go report it somewhere else.

That's fine to me, no bug reports anymore. Hundreds of homebrew apps on my Wii
are
running as they should and tree of them don't work correctly. Would it be a
strange
coincidence? I don't think so, after all they come from the same source.
@ EkeEke - Changing the DVDX installation to Normal mode doesn't solve the
problem to
me. As i reported before, it just make the emulator to load WITHOUT having a
working
internet connection but it won't read any DVD at all, that's all it does.
Should i
forget all of this and report a new issue for it don't reading my DVD's? Seems
mindless to me. In the end, issue 149 still persist, because the logic to me
is, no
matter what you do with DVDX, IOS's, cIOS, whatever, if you have a working
internet
connection, the emulator will work fine.
Please guys don't take me bad, i'm not being rude, but if we are here reporting
OUR
PROBLEM is because we want to help. The same way you are not being paid to work
in
the emulator, we are not being paid to tracking down the problems, all we want
is to
try your software without any commitment and help to make it better. I don't
really
care if this problem will be solved, all i'm doing is reporting my experiencies
with
the app and you, developers, can do whatever you want with the information.
Thank
you very much.
