This behaviour generally indicates that Sunny Explorer is not running
correctly. Try opening the SunnyExplorer.sx2 file manually with Sunny Explorer.
Can you produce a csv for today?
Check "Trace" on the Advanced tab and save the settings. Let it run for an hour
then upload the log file to this issue. The log may indicate a cause.
Is there a reason you went back to an empty database? I expected you would have
two weeks of history recorded.

I can manually create a csv file from Sunny Explorer. I went back to an empty
database as I deleted the old csv files in case they were corrupted. I have now
installed PVBC on a separate pc and have the same issue, nothing in database,
no csv files created by PVBC.

Did you check "Trace" and save the settings. There is no evidence of trace
being turned on in the log above. With trace on there are messages every few
seconds.
Can you chect the Windows event log for errors associated with the .Net
Framework.
Another user (Issue 28) found that their Bluetooth hardware was not accessible
from the Windows "Local Service" account. They needed to change the PV Bean
Counter service to run under the "Local System" account to get the service to
be able to access the bluetooth drivers. You could give this a try.

Yes, I checked "trace" and saved the settings. I did notice when reading
various issuues in the wiki that there was no local service account to
correspond with the screenshots. Have a feeling this is where the issue may be.
Could you advise me "to change the PV Bean Counter service to run under the
"Local System"? This is starting to get a fraction over my head!
Many thanks,

To change the service execution account:
1) Open "Control Panel" - "Administrative Tools" - "Services"
2) Scroll down to "PV Bean Counter - Yield Data Capture"
3) Open it (double click)
4) Select teh "Log On" tab
5) "Local Service" will be checked - Check "Local System account"
6) Click OK
7) Stop and Restart the PVPC service
If this solves the problem, you will need to do this whenever you reinstall
PVBC.
However if Trace was checked the log should have been much larger. I would like
you to check the Windows Event Log. To do this:
1) Open "Control Panel" - "Administrative Tools" - "Event Viewer"
2) Under "Event Viewer (Local) - "Summary of Administrative Events", open Event
Type "Error"
3) Scroll down to and open (double click) Source - ".Net Runtime"
4) Open each error - look for "Application: PVService.exe" at the top of the
General tab
If you find one, copy the text from the General tab into an entry in this issue

Enabled local system account ok, but nothing listed for ".Net Runtime" in event
viewer. Still no upload.

Please install version 1.4.1.7
In configuration ensure Trace is turned on and settings saved.
Start the service. I expect that you will get the same result as previously. I
just want to ensutre you are running the version I have the source for in my
dev system.
Open the zip file that comes with PVBC. It is visible in the PVBC menu entry.
Inside the empty databases folder you will find two batch files. Copy
"SunnyExplorerTest_x64.bat" to "C:\PVRecords\SunnyExplorerTest_x64.bat".
Open a command prompt (Under All Programs - Accessories) and enter the
following:
C:\PVRecords\SunnyExplorerTest_x64 C:\PVRecords 20110420
This will simulate the command executed by PVBC to extract data from the
inverter.
I want you to upload the result to this issue. To copy the result from the
Command Prompt:
Right click in the command prompt window
Choose "Select All"
Press the "Enter" key to copy this text
Use Right Click "Paste" to put the result into an Issue entry.
If this does not lead to a diagnosis, I will produce a version with fine
grained trace entries to identify the point of failure.

I can see some upload for your system on 19-21/4. Was this from PVBC? Can you
please update the status of this issue.

The upload was not from PVBC but from PV upload. Will test the new version
in the next couple of days when I am home. The latest version is 1.4.1.8, I
am assuming this is the version to use?

CSV-Export: establishing connection to plant ...
CSV-Export: establishing connection to plant failed!
You need to get this to work. Either the bluetooth communication is not working
or the SunnyExplorer.sx2 file is not correctly setup.
The correct output looks like this:
CSV-Export: establishing connection to plant ...
CSV-Export: plant login started ...
CSV-Export: current plant time is 26/04/2011 4:41:46 PM
CSV-Export: starting export ....
CSV-Export: completed
I suggest you start by opening the SunnyExplorer.sx2 file as the plant file in
Sunny Explorer.

If Sunny Explorer is already running The "CSV-Export" does not happen, it
just brings the SE window to the front.

PVBC version 1.4.1.9 is now available. This version contains improved trace
facilities arounf the execution of Sunny Explorer. Can you please install
1.4.1.9, check "Trace" under "Log Content" on the "Advanced" tab, and start the
service.
After about 1 hour, upload the PVService.log file to this issue for further
analysis.

I suspect your bluetooth install is "Blue Soleil".
It seems to be having difficulty starting from within the PVBC service.
I have a few suggestions but no sure fire solutions:
1) I had one other PVBC user who found that their BlueTooth would not respond
to a service running under the windows "Local Service" account. They found that
they needed to run PVBC with "System" privileges to get it to respond. To do
this:
Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services
Locate and double click "PV Bean Counter"
Open the "Log On" tab
Check "Local System account"
Click "OK"
Restart the PVBC service
Check to see if this fixes Bluetooth connectivity
The down side to this solution is that the account change must be made after
each install of PVBC.
2) If you are using BlueSoleil - Check the Windows BlueSoleil services - ensure
they are running. If they are not, try starting them. I found some BlueSoleil
users reporting BlueSoleil services not starting under some circumstances.
3) Are you using the latest version of the BlueSoleil software, if not try an
update. They have a version 8 available now
4) Contact BlueSoleil support. Include the following in the support request:
2/05/2011 10:00:29 AM :7 InverterManager :SunnyExplorerExtractCSV: Sunny
Explorer - Standard Output:
CSV-Export: establishing connection to plant ...
SERVICE_NAME: Start BT in service
TYPE : 10 WIN32_OWN_PROCESS
STATE : 4 RUNNING
(STOPPABLE, NOT_PAUSABLE, IGNORES_SHUTDOWN)
WIN32_EXIT_CODE : 0 (0x0)
SERVICE_EXIT_CODE : 0 (0x0)
CHECKPOINT : 0x0
WAIT_HINT : 0x0
CSV-Export: establishing connection to plant failed!
Tell them this only happens when Sunny Explorer is started from a "Service".
5) Try another Bluetooth device. I replaced my unreliable Toshiba notebook
builtin BT hardware with a Belkin BT dongle for under $30 at UMart. It uses
well known BT drivers.
