Make it so that they de-spawn when in an are not being loaded by players. For example the wilderness. Make the mobs spawn as the player walks into the chunks.
if you are running bukkit you can enter "void setMonsterSpawnLimit(int limit)" to set the amount of mobs allowed to spawn in a chunk. This will further allow you to control the mob spawn so people cannot over use mob grinders. for example iron golems. With this they cannot spawn more than x amount of golems allowing the price of iron to go back up. Hope this helps. Msg me if you need any more help.
Nah, spigot has a limiter built in, and mob amount does not seem to be causing issues at the moment.
Too many mobs, causing lag I believe. If not, still important to nerf spawners.
