840 G5 touchpad clicks not working #9

Hello, first of all thanks for all your effort. I got my 840 G5 booted in Big Sur with very little effort thanks to you. I added Intel Wifi for now and I'm online and mostly working.

The main thing I'm fighting is the touchpad. I understand that the buttons above the touchpad are not working, but I can't seem to get a left click working from the touchpad itself.

Tap to click doesn't work and pushing down the touchpad brings up the "info" or whatever panel. On Safari, clicking the touchpad brings up the "look up" for the selected word.

Under System Settings I don't see touchpad options, only mouse.

I have a feeling that this computer may have a different touchpad, but since it partially works, I suspect it might just be a setting.

I tried VoodooRMI but didn't resolve the issue.

EDIT: right after I wrote this post I found a thread on reddit of other people having this issue and looks like I have to do SSDT/DSDT patching for my laptop. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I figured it out. I actually needed the battery status to work. I just got ECEnabler.kext, added it to open core and it is working now.

Hello! Sorry, you had different bios for sure if battery is not working. I have now also updated with ECEnabler. Yet, I still have the acpi of battery patch in case the kext stop working. Try the new efi. Much cleaner now 😎 just make sure to edit smbios and add Intel wifi kext
