Its great that yall evaluate ur pros and cons of design considerations, but I dont think this is an invalid con since it is doable, just requires more testing and effort.

If this was in the UG for the user to read, it would not definitely not make sense as it is indeed doable, just with more effort.

However, this is in the DG, which is for potential developers to read and understand why such a choice was made. Additionally, not implementing Alternative 2 due to prioritizing simplicity and to reduce effort in testing and finding bugs is clearly a valid reason to give as a con.
