as per the title, i would like to see support added to the mixing cauldron for recipes that lack an input fluid, or both an input fluid and an output fluid. this would be useful for modpack devs to make mixing cauldron recipes with less restriction. one would be able to make recipes such as
melting metal items down into raw metal fluids a la Tinker's Construct
mixing items together without a fluid being consumed or produced a la Create's mixer
i'd imagine when writing such a recipe, you'd either set minecraft:air as the input/output fluid, or just omit either the input or output fluid fields.
currently, if you do the former- setting both the input and output fluids to air, the game will let you throw the items into the mixing cauldron and will play the animation and produce the output item, but it will then crash:
latest.log
the game will also crash if you attempt to view the recipe in JEI.
you can test it yourself by loading this recipe with a datapack:
mixing_test_1.json
