FFXIV: Left and right sticks not working properly #14

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Configure vJoy based on the description on the home page and launch chatpad
executable with FFXIV flag checked;
2.Start FFXIV game, during character selection, the camera keeps moving around
clockwise and towards up.
3.In FFXIV game pad calibration window, I could see something when I move the
sticks but when I started calibration, FFXIV couldn't recognize stick moves.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
All other keys are fine. Only the left and right sticks have the problem. there
was response in the game when I moved the stick but the camera just kept moving
and I couldn't make it stop.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
version 19, windows 7 64 bit, Japanese version.

Please provide any additional information below.
Changing the deadzone values didn't make a difference.

How does the controller look in the native windows calibration tool? You can
run joy.cpl from a command prompt to bring it up.

Thanks for the reply. I haven't tried the windows calibration tool yet because
last time I checked there was no gamepad icon in my control panel.

I will try the joy.cpl command after work and post the results here.

Hi, sorry for the late reply. I calibrated the sticks by using joy.cpl,
according to your suggestion and it worked. My left and right sticks are now
functioning properly.

However, another problem came to notice, that sometimes when I press the POV on
one direction once, the game (or vJoy) seems to receive multiple button
presses. To be more precise, I press POV up once, for example, the game acts
like I keep pressing POV up. Then once I press another POV direction, the crazy
POV action stops.

This POV problem occurs with a roughly 1/10 probability.

Anyway, the stick issues are gone, thank you for your kind help. The chatpad is
working well all the time, which is great since I can now operate both cross
hot bar and hot bar at the same time from the controller.

Please let me know if the POV button thing should be moved to a new issue
submission.
Again, thank you for the great driver.

That's great news regarding the calibration, glad things are workingish.

Regarding the sticky buttons...good news is that I have had the problem myself.
Bad news, there's nothing I can do in the application to help it.

I was able to fix the problem by simply switching to a different Xbox
controller. I haven't had a recurrence in 3 days so it seems to have worked.

Another possible option is if your on wireless network, move the Xbox receiver
as far as possible from the antenna. I'm not sure if this helps, but with a
random like occurance, its possible its just interference with something.

I'm sorry I can't be of much more support on this one, but I racked my brain
for weeks trying to fix it via application, just can't do much. feel free to
reply with any success measures you may have with this.

I see, thanks Sky.

I do have a 3 antenna wifi router right beside my game desktop, to which the
360 receiver is connected. So I guess I might be having this interference thing
going on.

Thank you for the suggestions and I will try relocate the router.
