Problem Uninstalling Windows 8.1 64-bit #23

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Attemping to uninstall

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
When I attempt to uninstall the drivers using chatpad_uninstaller_amd64.exe in
the chatpad folder I get the following error message:

"Failed to delete filter driver: 0x00000002"

Is there anyway I can manually remove the installation?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I am running Widows 8.1 64-bit and the driver worked really well, with a
wireless xbox controller and genuine microsoft chatpad. However when I tried to
uninstall the above problem occurred.

Please provide any additional information below.

Thanks for your work so far, being able to use the chatpad is awesome!

I'm actually not sure what the chatpad_uninstaller_amd64.exe file is; it's not
part of this application.

For uninstalling, remember that this application is not "installed" is it
simply run, so all you need to do is delete the application. The vJoy device
driver can be uninstalled via the Add/Remove programs area in the control panel
(Win7 based).

As far as the libUSB driver that you installed, you can remove that via the
following (Win7 based but should be close):
1. Start Orb -> Right Click Computer -> Manage
2. Device Manager -> Expand libusb-win32 devices
3. Right Click Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver -> Check the Delete the Driver
Software box -> Select OK.

I hope this helps, unfortunately I don't have access to a Win8 machine to
identify exact steps for your case.

Thanks for your quick response.

You're right about the chatpad_uninstaller_amd64.exe, I was confused that was
from a wired chatpad driver I downloaded some time ago.

I followed your instructions and then reinstalled the orginal windows
controller driver and all is working now.

Just for the record I can confirm your driver works on Window 8.1 64-bit no
problem.

Thanks for your help.
