Optimizations

Sooner or later we'll have to write an optimization pass. Here are some ideas:

• [x] Simplify constant control flow
  • Should be the easiest.
• Constant folding: partially implemented; no arbitrary precision.
  • Would be fun to use a CAS with arbitrary precision arithmetic.
  • Reassociation
  • Requires flattening the MIR?
• Instruction reordering to remove intermediate variables
  • Would require side effect analysis.
  • SSA?
• [x] Inlining
  • What heuristics should we use?
  • None for now; explicitly mark functions as inline.
  • [ ] Automatically inline functions that are only called in one place.
