The key to focus on the book chooser text box is now:
control+down-arrow

In 2.14b it worked only for the first time:
control+down-arrow switched to the verse box on the toolbar.
Then I clicked into a module, and now control+down-arrow does not work any
more. Even restarting XS does not change this.

It works consistently for me. I'm not sure what this could be. What system are
you using?

using XS Portable-2.13b.zip in WinXP

Could you please find another keyboard shortcut?
control+down-arrow switches my monitor image with 180 degrees, my externer
monitor now stands on his head .....

Regarding comment 6: try it again with the 2.14 when it's available and see if
it works then.
Regarding comment 7: Do you have another suggested key to use?

My suggestion would be is a combination with the character B (like Paratext, a
Scripture editor program does it)

Done: Control+B will select the book text box now.
I left the Control+down-arrow for this functions as well because it works on
keyboards of any language (whereas Control+B will only work on Latin keyboards).

This is a good idea to keep Control+down-arrow, as Ctrl+B is to remember easily
in Germanophone languages (book, Buch) but not in Latin based languages (e.g.
livre in French).
I have to figure out on my machine how to undo my montitor switch (caused by
Control+down-arrow) by a shortcut (working with a mouse in this condition is
painful ...)
