This pull request supersedes (#25) on John's request, splitting the Python environment work from the finalization of my dataset creation and analysis. I can confirm that, from a fresh Python installation, all code functions as expected, recreating all datasets and producing expected outputs.

Sorry for the merge commit pollution—still re-wrapping my head around git.

Thanks, Thomas! Yeah, small PRs tend to be better than large ones. However, I have a bad habit of breaking that. See #26 for that; way too large. I should've made a PR for every new task.
