auto-detecting daemon version #14

This is a solution for #11. Seems to work, though it's not as clean as I'd hope. Not sure if there is something better to be done.

I also fixed an error to do with deluge 2 sending a tuple of exception arguments instead of just a message for the new error decoding stuff. That will need to be split out and merged if this doesn't go in as is.
