Data log on playback is flatline...and WP's #501

Arducopter 2.0, with firmware 1.2.14 mav 1.0

I'm new to Mission Planner and the APM, I have searched for an instance of 
this, but no answers to my so basic question.
1)
What switch or configuration did I miss, to make my data logger actually 
collect my flight data?  I currently download it all manually, and attempt to 
play it back on "flight data", but all I get for the separate flights are 
flat-lines. The duration of the flight seems accurate.
2)
Also, does everyone have this issue, where you are looking (setting) waypoints 
and they don't match up very well with google maps? When I record a WP, it 
shows the quad flying over a forest, where I expect to be in a field 100' from 
there.  Is that the accuracy of google maps and this built-in GPS?
