Database error alert box interrupts browsing experience #11

JavaScript's alert() function is handy, but it steals way too much focus from 
the rest of the browser.

Need to put the error into a modal HTML div, instead of using alert().

Could also then add options in the div to never show these errors again, either 
for the current page/session or forever.
