CSS filters for Webkit are in the works, but aren't available yet. And I don't 
really like the extra overhead/delay of having to load mezzoblue's PaintbrushJS 
plugin.

If I created SVG images for the icons, their colours could then be modified 
using jQuery easily, and PaintbrushJS could be dropped.
