Difference between Tag and Notes attributes unclear #3

Open Jonathan-Cao opened 3 years ago

Jonathan-Cao commented 3 years ago

Both Tag and Notes attributes seem to serve the same function, which is to add miscellaneous notes for the task.

The only difference between these 2 seems to be that multiple Tags can be added and must have alphanumeric characters only while Notes can be in any character but only one can be added per task.

This can introduce feature clutter and confuse users as to which attribute they should be using to add miscellaneous notes to their task.

It is possible to combine the multiplicity of Tags and the freedom of character usage of Notes into a single attribute.

Reason for disagreement: Tags can take on the exact same value as notes, hence this calls into question if both of these attributes need to exist together if they can both display the same information. Furthermore, as described in the bug report, both of these attributes seem to serve the same purpose, which is to add miscellaneous notes for the task. There is no clear differentiation in terms of purpose between both of these attributes in the UG and it would reduce confusion for the user if only one of them existed.

Furthermore, the Tag example in the UG does not work as intended, which can add further confusion to the user in terms of the purpose of the Tag attribute if Tag only accepts single word inputs only (as spaces are not alphanumeric and hence not allowed).
