As an admin, often I load and prepare images for other users. How can I change the owner of an image?

MrMusic commented 1 year ago

The Owner is the 'Created By' field and can be set in the 'Publishing' tab. Click on the user icon near to the user name and then select a user. image-change-owner

It would be nice and consistent if we changed the field name “Created By” to “Owner”. Thanks in advance.

In JoomGallery 4 I would like to introduce two kind of owners

Author or photographer

Name of the person created the photo. He is the actual content creator and most probably the owner of the image. In a professional environment this is the license owner. grafik

Creator of the image record

The user who uploaded the image and therefore created the database record for the image. He is the owner of the database record. This field is important for Joomla to work correctly, but in my eyes not the right place to put the name of the photographer. grafik

In some cases author and creater are the same. But in a lot of cases the photographer will not manage the website by himself and therefore the one uploading the image will not be the same as the one taking the image.

I changed “Created by” in “Image, Publishing”. And consequently, the “Owner” is changed in “Images”. The Owner is the person who has the permissions to manage the image. The Author (Photographer) is the person who hold all rights of the image. In most situations, both roles are the same person. So you are absolutely right with your comment. But why we have different names in the two screens for the same field?

But why we have different names in the two screens for the same field?

We should defenitely unify the naming and also make the descriptions more understandeable.
